I've just been watching a program on TV about Graphene (an allotrope of carbon, whose structure is one-atom-thick).
The 2010 Nobel Prize in Physics goes to Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov, now both at the University of Manchester, for studying single atom-thick sheets of carbon, called graphene.
A breaking strength of 200 times greater than steelhttp://www.mechanicalengineeringblog.com/tag/graphene-vs-steel/Graphene sheets conduct electricity as well as copper, conduct heat better than any other known material.http://spectrum.ieee.org/tech-talk/semiconductors/materials/2010-nobel-prize-goes-to-graphene-duoLittle wonder that........
Mickey Fulp's latest “Mercenary Musing.” is for carbon and he's investing his own money in a carbon start up company.http://www.goldgeologist.com/audio/RobertGraham/MercenaryRadio20111128.mp3In the good tradition of Jim Dines I hereby declare myself “The Original Graphene/Carbon Bug.”
One of my holdings.
This is by no means a recommendation because quite frankly it's been a disappointment, but hopefully that will change (might be worth watching).....
http://www.canafgroup.com/s/QuantumScreening.aspCanaf feels that this is a good base for Quantum to expand and potentially become one of the major carbon providers on the continent and eventually world-wide.
