If you still feel a bit uncomfortable with gold. Consider platinum. A precious metal that has taken a bit of a beating mainly because of its automotive connections. It’s a precious metal so it still fits the criteria as a store of value. I still prefer gold, but I can understand your reticence.

    I'll pat myself on my back for AUY 53% and SLW 72% profit.  I bought in during Nov.  I still think there is alot of run in them. They are still well off there highs. I feel a little better from the beating I took on them and others that I bought earlier in 08.  I wish I bought more in Nov.  I agree there will be a pull back. But wait for a 20% pull back after another 20% run up possibly.  It's one of those, dammed if I do and dammed if I don't.  Got cash on the side and waiting for which dammed I will get.
