just checked in while on vacation... seems all too coincidental that the markets are getting clobbered while we are off on holiday... I mean really, just how convenient is that...

Totally agree.  Gold is about 1140 USD around 2: 45 Hong Kong time.  Shocked  USD,  not gold is again showing itself to be a safe haven in times of panic.  As the USD would say about itself to the rest of the world:  It ain't over 'til the fat lady sings!

YC, you said...

Canada will do much better then the U.S., in my humble opinion.

Reason is that they have oil and supply to the U.S., the question is will the U.S. be able to trade food for some oil and/or get in on the oil sands production in Canada.

Firearms prohibited Canda?  They hunt in Canada don't they?

I can't remember the last time anyone ever mentioned the fact that Canada is the Number 1 supplier of oil to the U.S. It seems to be a quiet topic, even up here in the Great White North. All we usually hear is about the Oil in the Middle East, and how the U.S wants to get their hands on it. I guess the Loonie is taking a hit with the drop in Oil price due to the Dubai Debt concerns. The CAD index chart looks like it is poised to breakout to the downside, which could mean bad news for hard commodities up here.
I am still liking $NATGAS, it definitely has been kicked and told to wake up. Should it crack 5.75, (like jj000 mentioned earlier)  who knows, maybe it can grow some legs...but I am watching closely....I can't seem to find any real good market bottoms in any areas, except NAT Gas plays. Still looking, my scans keep showing increasing numbers of O&G Juniors creeping ever higher. Interesting...
Good Luck and Good Trading.. Wink D

P.S. Only the hunters, and sports/target shooters have the "legal" heat. There are lots of others out there, but they are illegal, and in the hands of the criminals, especially the drug trade. Lots of gun violence with gang drug turf wars. It is getting worse up here...

Bounce off support. Wink

Looks like I cropped this a bit too much, but it's a close-up of an ES daily chart.

The fans are drawn off the July low (failed H&S pattern) which seems to be significant.
The red line is the upper channel limit of the the now busted bear market downtrend channel, starting at the Oct 07 high, and touching the May 08 high. It's parallel lower limit touches the Nov 08 and Mar 09 lows.  I keep it on the chart just in case.

Article I found on Martenson's site.  As countries move to deversify away from the USD...

“You are about to drift into sleep when all of a sudden the piercing sound of a mosquito approaches with the speed and accuracy of a missile. You take a swipe in the dark but miss. The mosquito swoops again and again until in your fury you jump up and turn the light on.
Inside your head another light has just gone on. You are struggling to remember the words you read a few weeks ago in a newspaper column. What were they again?.......Ah yes you remember....... "If you think you are too small to make a difference, then just try sleeping in a darkened room with a mosquito."

In our own little way that’s what we are doing here, and on forums all over the world.
Mosquito’s making voicing our opinions and making a difference.

In the meantime let’s hope that government doesn’t think of sending a SWAT Team in.

“Wake up America. The system convinced you to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars educating your brightest sons and daughters at top universities so that they would become croupiers of the banks. Had you spent that money buying gold and silver in the last decade you both could have probably retired.”
I can vouch for that as that’s pretty much the way it happened with Mrs SS and myself. I started putting money into gold in 2000. Plus a little help from Uranium, and a job as well we could both retire in our mid fifties (2007). I admit that the job could prove an obstacle for others trying to emulate the feat, but the principle’s still there.

Sounds as if "The Fat Lady" might be going into rehearsals.

yup, PT, that's the fan line I was talking about earlier... I noticed that drop exactly to support as well.  Uncanny how it shot down to just touch that line.  And tt looks like from past tests, IF it retests or breaks below, it should do so in the next trading day or two.  If not, it should turn back up from here.

sunseeker, nice to hear a positive story about a trading plan well executed.  Great work.

Yea it's in our own little way and "little" being the operative word.

I like many that frequent this site and others would "do" something if only I knew how and where.  Like many Americans I feel fairly helpless in the direction my country is taking.  This helplessness being experienced by more and more Americans if allowed to continue unabated will eventually develop into frustration and that will without question evolve into serious anger which can manifest itself in several directions.

First as vocal attacks at those that are the perceived cause of the frustration and if a person is just not sure who to blame, they will surely come under the influence of the first smooth explanation they can make sense of.  If that group advocates violent reprisals it will begin with individual assaults and could quite possibly escalate to pockets of civil unrest.  After that who knows.

All that aside, I just Googled political activist group meetings Las Vegas.  Since that is where I live.  Result was over 47,000 hits.  I am sure this includes multiple hits on the same group again and again but nonetheless I started looking at the various factions out there.  Holy crap, after two hours I saw nothing that represents my values as an individualist, free market advocate, Constitution loving American.

I did see the group representing Welfare Reform and the Political Activism of Welfare Mothers, The Vegas Trans Activist (apparently the Lesbian and Gay Activist group are not enough for those that wish to switch teams permanently) and something called “Living without borders”  who apparently have a problem of a person being deemed “Illegal” and the concept of borders in general.

What kind of a frikking monster have we created in this country?  In the world from which I come, (formally referred to as the Republic for which it stands) to consider yourself on welfare implies that you have been unable to take care of yourself, rule one in survival.  To identify with a group that is not satisfied with one gender and wishes to change it would imply that you have head problems or are simply a deviant personality.  If you consider yourself aligned with a group that is involved in violation of immigration laws and advocate removal of our borders you would never defend this country or its Constitution.  Or to take it a step further,  a traitor from within.

I notice all these groups have one thing in common.  They all want to take something.  Welfare money does not appear out of thin air (although that may be true soon although it will be worthless).  The services these Illegal’s take once here is not without cost.  And I will be damned if I would authorize spending tax dollars to pay for sex change operations so some disturbed individual can feel “good” about themselves.

Then you throw in the religious groups, the “special needs” groups and one I have never understood the Animal rights groups.  Look, along with “rights” comes “obligation”;  You cannot have one without the other.  Since an animal has no obligation it cannot possibly have “Rights” it is simply preposterous to confer rights on an animal.  I think a Roman Caesar once declared his horse a senator and I can nowadays see some validity in that act as we have done the same thing here in America except we did not use the entire horse just the posterior portion.

To illustrate my point further, how many times a day do you hear the word “democracy”.  I hear Senators and congressman refer to “our democracy” continuously and about puke each time.  People of the World;   the United States of America is a Constitutional Republic.  It is described as such in all the founding documents and the framers of the Constitution and Bill of Rights understood this well and were clear in the intentions of this Country.  Some Democratic principles are used but a pure Democracy in it true form is repugnant to the Constitution of these several States.  Democracy is best described as three wolves and a sheep deciding “what’s for dinner”.  We seek a just government for all citizens not just the majority.

If that is what we have become then I want out.  But where to go?  I don’t have the answer but people will sooner or later vote with their feet or their rifles if we continue down this path.

How can I have my voice heard?  I suggest that places like this and the occasional mounting of the soap box at the golf club will not do much good.  I would never cover myself with the filth that elected office offers.   Plato is quoted as saying that “One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.”  From what I have seen the man was on to something but I had sooner be a pimp Bombay as a politician in America at this time.

I do not question that there are some honorable people serving this country.  But the policing and preservation of morals and justice are the responsibility of the body as a whole.  If those that are just and moral allow the corrupt and devious to rule, the chambers the entire political body rots from within.  We are watching history being made in America today no question about it.  Where will it all lead?  I have no clue but, when it is all over the citizen will be a different animal in the U. S of A.

Would there be any need for such drastic action if everything in the garden was as rosy as we are being led to believe?
They’ve obviously read their history and wish to avoid yet another parallel to the 1929 Depression.
