I agree with you 3j.....and no we are "somehow" not really a benefactor in the oil riches that are Iraq.

http://biz.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2009/12/13/business/20091213071019&sec=business

The US doesn't get squat in terms of oil for the investment of capital and US lives in Iraq, BUT does get air bases which I am sure we will occupy for close to forever.

I don't care if we say we are pulling out or not, I would bet that we will maintain a presence and maybe we will get a "thank you" from Iraq, as we keep our eyes on and direct access to Iran.

But I think you are right 3j...not only would Russia not want us to lose that, but even China wouldn't want to leave Iran unchecked.

Nuthin worse than a bunch of crazy militant muslims with nuclear weapons, China, Russia, and France all realize that and wouldn't jeapordize world safety IMO for a few defense contracts.

If it got more serious they would or will have to drop the hammer for the rest of the world, the UN continues to be irrelevant really (obviously) and Iran's benefactors will have to give it up, for them (Iran) to give in.

Thanks for your input, BF and 3j.  Definitely appreciated.

In my scenario, Iran is no longer a nuclear threat.

An interesting thought is that prior to taking over Iraq, Iran and Iraq were the only two oil producing countries that sold their oil in other than U.S. dollars.  The U.S. was not happy about that.  I am one of those who has been slowly coming to believe that we weren't just on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan just to stamp out a few terrorists or export democracy.

So, the U.S. ushers in regime change in Iran and, voila, all oil is then in dollars and U.S.'s stranglehold as world currency is enforced.  Ths U.S. suddenly gets to call all the shots.

All these Asian, Middle East countries and Venezuela and Brazil are busy setting up deals where they get out of U.S. dollars related to oil and other imports/exports.

I'm not convinced that China or Russia care about Iran getting a hold of nukes.  It's just another State with oil for China and exports to/from both China and Russia.

We have enough trouble just stamping out a few terrorists now and are stretched so thin.  It's truly insane fighting a war there against an enemy that is all over the world and not interdependent of it's members.  I don't think these wars are what they seem.

We talk about EROI in energy related terms.

I wonder what the real return is on all the hundreds of billions into and over a trillion spent on killing a few terrorists?

The "return" certainly is not that we are going to stamp out terrorism.

The "return" is not democracies in Iraq and Afghanistan either (look how dependent we are on communist China).

I think I am finally coming around to what Ron Paul has been saying about the real reasons we are there and it's not pretty.

You ready to buy one, sell everything, and head for Canada to stake out a claim?

I'm going to start a newsletter and pump up your new stock ticker with glorious expectations, then dump as soon as it goes over $1.25

Have we hear that story before?

The original "pump and dump" bug.

That scintellometer is sitting on a pile of leaves in Pittsylvania county VA YC.  The greens have been fighting this deposit for years but it looks good to go to me.  Likely to take a couple more years but in the end ...................>  a million pounds of YC there and I even know where there's some more.      New Governor, supervisors in the county, agreement to allow a study for safety. Major concerns ground water and down stream but the deposit is basically "sealed" in one spot naturally.  They could dig it out without much environmental damage at all.  Long term, as of right now good deposit.  likely largest in the US.

I believe Santoy re invented itself as Virginia uranium, VAERF.  Nothings a sure thing but they have I believe 20% stake.  Hey we got Cash Minerals don't we.   lol  I like this one better for now.  I rarely if ever have made a specific call but I am on this one .22  .24

There's risk so don't blame me I just threw it out there.  DYODD  if you don't know what that means perhaps you are in the wrong business.  (not directed to anyone but in general)

Make myself perfectly clear here.  I am not recommending this but simply calling it to your attention.

Alright YC this ain't funny.   Which one of you ran my volume up today.  Now I got to wait for a pull back to get some more.

Easy.  Just accumulate a bit at the time.   There's lots of time left on this one the environmental study by NAS and VaTech won't be done till after this summer, then they got to tell the greenies to FO.  The area is depressed, needs the industry and work plus there already was one study and after reading it there is no way ground water contamination should present a problem.

Did you misunderstand my previous comment?

I was taking a shot at James Dines and was just kidding you.

Of course I know what DYODD means...
