SW....I have been looking at the tutorials on TOS. Man that is some trading platform.
I need to go through it this weekend see if I can get up to speed.
Thanks again for turning us on to it.
I noticed that TD Ameritrade bought them out. You know anything about if TD will be adopting TOS platform into TD or if it will run as a standalone platform?
I hate the lag times associated with moving assets over.

Tom Sosnoff the founder and CEO of TOS is quite a person. I dont think the sale To TD will have that much effect. BY the way be sure to ask them, once you are ready to fund the account for the rates promised the David Elliott followers. A discount if you will, on commissions.
Be sure to listen as much as possible to the Wed chats on the web site frequently with some great guest. This Past Wed was John Person of Person's pivots. I had not used them before and after the seminar have found them useful information once I understood what they do. Couple of wednesdays ago David Elliott was guest and the archive is avaliable.
Friday talks are weelky market wrap ups and very good also. Tim Knight was the recent wrap up guest and is there frequently. Tim is the developer and partner with TOS on Prophet the chart Analysis part of TOS. If you havent looked at it. >Charts > Prophet. That simple Suggest you go there and start clicking buttons. Another powerful tool available at TOS.
Might check out
Slopeofhope.com
That is Tim Knight's web site and has some video tutorials for Prophet.
I use the YM on papertrade as a test for my skills as a chart analysis. David has explained it many times on the chat. The FW signals are fractal. THat is they occur on all time frames. The e-mini YM is a fast moving chart. you can get a years worth of signals in a day and by trading that way, when you look at a daily chart for a stock you may want to swing trade the signals pop out at you and can trade like in slow motion based on your knowledge and understanding these patterns. The e-mini papertrades provide a great proving ground for any trading plan. Test the plan fast and in real time. You can see very quickly if the plan works or has flaws. When you are at Tim Knight's site check out his "Rules" are there any you could incorporate into your plan?
Really glad I was able to share this info with you guys. The more you share the more you learn.

By the way. If you are learning anything with the TOS chat, please send Tom Sosnoff an E-mail telling him that you appreciate the FW chat chat room. Tom wants feedback as this is something new for TOS and will give David more influence on getting some more of his indicators included on TOS. Can't believe the CEO answers his own email but Tom does. Very impressed with this guy.
There are sooo many option things on TOS. I think mainly because Tom is I think and option junky. That is I think he is a very active options trader.

Thanks SW.....I just started setting up some charts today....too busy trading!LOL
I am hoping to do some work this weekend setting some more stuff up and just getting more familiar with the platform.
I need to go back and read some earlier posts regarding the dashboard of green/red lights and just try to keep plugging away. I guess perfect world, I would like to know the platform pretty darn well before I fund it.
Hate those lag times!!!!!!!!
I did look at all the options stuff....wondering if 3j is licking his chops on it.
Believe it or not I have also been going back through the U's and setting some trend channels and support. There are some actually beginning to look interesting. Paladin has broken out and Mega looks like it is on the edge. I am liking the way these guys are behaving. They move up and kind of fall back into support are holding and rising back up to resistance. I am thinking they should have upside breakouts here pretty soon, should the S&P hit that 900 level, as oil has been trading in lock step with the S&P.
Who the heck wants to do all this back and forth stuff? It will be a nice time when/if we finally get back to a bull market, and can just make some good fundamental picks and actually think about the concept of letting something run up! Think about that one, how long since you could actually let a true long position run? Seems like forever

Actually if you are flexable enough the back and forth stuff can be profitable. IMHO better than a flat or consolidating market.
Bull is great just toss a dart and wait. That's when every Tom, Dick, and Harry considers themselves a market genuis jumps in the warm water not aware of the sharks making tighter and tighter circles.
This rally will be sucking 'em (buy and hold types) back in a little at a time until at some point, it will be once again feeding time.
Don't forget we ARE in a Primary Bear market. Until the technicals prove otherwise be ready for anything.

I didn't know TOS had chats, will have to go check those out. Thanks for the tip. I read Tim Knight's blog fairly regularly... I guess he went a little overboard with FAZ the other day, that was a funny post.
LOL ... yea it seems that ol Tim threw a 150Gs at it and it bit him quite firmly on the ass. LOL
Then again he most likely can afford it.
Notice it led him to make some rule changes. The psycology involved in trading is just mind numbing. Even the best traders are in a constant war with themselves. To me overcoming my personal bias and doing the right thing is, at the present the biggest challenge.

COME INTO MY TRADING ROOM
A Complete Guide to Trading
July 2008
BY DR. ALEXANDER ELDER
The Principles of Triple Screen
Triple Screen resolves contradictions between indicators and time-frames. It reaches strategic decisions on long-term charts, using trend-following indicators - this is the first screen. It proceeds to make tactical decisions about entries and exits on the intermediate charts, using oscillators - this is the second screen. It offers several methods for placing buy and sell orders - this is the third screen, which we may implement using either intermediate - or short-term charts.
...
Triple Screen defines the long term by multiplying the intermediate timeframe by five. If your intermediate timeframe is daily, then your long-term timeframe is weekly. If your intermediate timeframe is five minutes, then your long-term is half-hourly, and so forth. Choose your favorite timeframe, call it intermediate, and immediately move up one order of magnitude to a long-term chart. Make your strategic decision there, and return to the intermediate chart to look for entries and exits.

Gold getting a good bounce this morning. Can't help but thinking about the Martin Armstrong article predicting a peak in the economic confidence model on apr 16th as we go into this week. If there is anything to these cycles he speaks of it should manifest itself in the next week or so. When confidence is down gold goes up. We shall see.

Pinetree the reference to hockey sticks is something FW came up with to describe the condition of the indicator lines. you will see below what is termed "hockey sticks in the air" . I you high stick it is a penalty. So, when we see hockey sticks in the air it indicates a down move. in the case of hockey sticks on the ground it could indicate a Snap Back Up.
If you have the TOS there is a chart show almost daily. FW does a daily market look Sun through Thurs nights around 9PM. Many times he also gives instruction about his methods. I would highly recommend you tune in, you can learn quite a bit.
on the chat window just click the listen box and then click Watch next to 'Screen show" you will see the charts he is working with real time.

Thanks SW, that's what I thought it was.
I've been watching the nightly chats as often as I can. I watch the archives as well. There was a real nice one in there... 70 minutes talking about mobo. Really helpful.

Dont do predictions but thats what the study says........ as of right now.

Thanks SW,
By the way, the hockey sticks thing is part of what had be thinking of shorting gold. I saw the potential SBD, but also saw we've got hockey sticks in the air on cci and on some of the multiple stochastics snapback study on the daily GLD. Plus, it was just a week or so ago that it broke the daily 50 and lower mobo, failed on the attempt to recapture them, then collapsed.
But I know that I've got to get better at understanding how the action on other timeframes is likely to influence things. Still, just going on the daily technicals, DZZ looks like a good play to me...
