That 3000 years quoted is certainly interesting.

However, by 2020, China says it will be at 5% of total from nuclear (and other green energy).

To make a serious dent in their 70% of energy from coal, they need to come up with, for example's sake, 50% from green.

That puts a whole new perspective on 3000 years worth of supply.

We'll see what their EROEI is on reprocessing costs...

Only time will tell.

I suspect it will not affect this upcoming shortage at all as demands goes nuts in 2012/2013 and forward a few years.

But consider this, if reprocessing can be made cheap then the entire world will want reactors.

That means there will have to be a lot more supply than is not guessed in the ground.

The analyses that I have read concerning the Chinese announcemet are pretty much in line with what yellowcaked wrote.  So I won't add anything there.  However, I will add that, personally I don't believe most of what I hear coming out of China.

Hi Dananini...
To me, this is excellent news! Any news that gives you insight is good news. This is Chinese propoganda hard at work (Mr.Dines calls it Mass Psychology). I would like to think that if China really had developed a way to reuse it's spent fuel, the bottom would fall out of the Uranium market, and WE WOULD ALL KNOW ABOUT IT YESTERDAY...Hmmm... It hasn't happened yet.... Really though, let's think about it...
1) China needs lots and lots and lots and lots, and, well, Lots of Uranium, with an unquenchable thirst for Yellowcake....UNQUENCHABLE.
2) It wants to Buy AAAAAAAllllll the Uranium it can, as Cheaply as it can. Gotta use up all those paper US Dollars on something....
3) So China starts buying uranium slowly, soas to not drive up prices too much.
4) Any news, repeat ANY NEWS coming from China is NEWS THEY WANT YOU TO KNOW, and may not be the TRUTH.
5) Knowing item 4, we can more than likely deduce that China is DESPERATELY TRYING TO DISCOUNT URANIUM, so it can accummulate it at cheaper prices. So expect any type of News from China that could "discount" the price of Uranium, becasue they NEED it, and
I suspect the uraniums are moving from weaker hands to stronger hands. The Uranium train is a longer play than most think. With near term corrections in the next 3-6months, I suspect the prices will  then advance again, as China resumes it's buying.

Ask yourself what type of story you would like the world to know, if you had to buy lots of uranium for many years to come?
Time to step outside the box and look IN...

Yep, and same holds true with their manipulation of the Rare Earth market.
