JDH there is no way you were too harsh to this peddler of “Newsletters” in fact, you were quite fair in my estimation.  I make no bones about my attitude towards him as you may well know.

As to the “original Rare Earth” bug business, someone brought this up a couple years ago I think on this forum.  Michael Berry has been touting Rare Earth companies for some time and the same companies which Dines “suddenly’ discovered, Berry has actually visited and posted photos in his morning reports long before.  So the old Blowhard now is staking claim to being the “original Rare Earths bug”.  Disgusting self promotion.

Unsophisticated, Inexperienced investors with money seek the knowledge and advice of experienced, sophisticated advisors.  When it’s all said and done the one with the experience has the money and the one with money has experience.

I warn anyone that will listen.  These are not normal economic times.  Many have withheld what money they have left from investments.  Schemes will appear from the 4 corners of the planet in order to extract, and separate folks from their money.  Just wait and see.  Their names won’t necessarily be Sheldon or Jim but a new breed of “Low States”

December was the end of my 3 years subscription.  I did not re-up.

Over the last two years, in particular, I have noticed that every time his newsletter comes in it has a lot of news that I have already read...  and rarely any new insights...  and like JDH said of 44 stocks, 28 are still there...

Either Dines is loosing his touch or I just read a lot.

Rare-earth bug, my ass.  I was reading about rare-earth's way before he went North on them.

Wink

JDH, there is nothing wrong for betting on the wrong horse, that’s part of trading. Surely, the winning chances of the same horse are increasing by changing the rules of the race, like exchanging the dollar with gold as a measuring stick of the performance of the S&P 500.

“The S&P 500 is in an obvious year long uptrend, it’s broken through to new highs, and it’s trading well above it’s 50 and 200 day moving averages. If you follow the theory to “buy high, sell higher”, than now would be a time to buy, as the market is making new highs.”
That’s your slogan. As nothing goes up forever in trading, certainly there will be a downturn sometime.

What is the big risk if you watch this market daily and you sense that there is a safety net provided by a government that wants a positive stock market now and in view of upcoming elections?

I keep enjoying your other contributions too, including the funny part on Lindsay Lohan and your Las Vegas travel report. I have flown with Southwest many years ago, but only remember their attractive stewardesses in tight red hot pants and go-go boots.

Well, if you made money following Dines, then he is an ok guy. If you lost money, you may think otherwise. Dines has stocks on his list for a reason, and his "loyal TDL'ers" are expected to purchase equal amounts of each, within each group. Have you done that? If not, you are on your own. If you DID NOT DO THAT, then you need to keep your mouth shut, because YOU can't follow Instructions. You still have to be able to glance at a long term chart, and see if it looks like a low price, or a high price. One still should become somewhat of a "seasoned investor" to really make the money off his picks, but it is not neccessary.
His method is for the 4-6year timer, I would say. How many of you reporting/reading this board are holding his picks(buying them when they seem low) and are holding for 4-6 years? Probably ZERO. The Uranium Buying started in 2000, and true followers watched and rode the bull into 2007 with incredible profits. Now Rare Earths are the current order of battle. Pick a "basket" of good Rare earth Stocks on weakness, and then put them away, and sit back and let the RE Story unfold. The mass market for Rare Earths, like anything else will take time to develop, patience, patience, patience. If there is one thing I hope to have learned the past 6 months, is patience in the market, and letting the stocks fulfill their destiny, once they have established uptrends....
Good Luck and Happy Trading to All...D  Wink

“Perhaps I should start a new category on the Buy High Sell Higher Forum for each of you to give me tips on how to drink copious amounts of wine, and still fulfill your duties as an amateur blog writer.”

Drink two glasses of water on the side with each glass of wine (not mixing it). The only disadvantage is more toilet visits. Cheers!

I am a non-alcoholic drinker.  But, I will break this habit of mine by taking a small sip of wine to toast JDH for his ability to write great blogs, and drink lots of wine at the same time.  Salute!
